P.S. 343 Pre-K Afterschool Information

We are pleased to be working with the Peck Slip School this year to provide a special program after school that is completely separate from the K-5 program. In this nurturing environment, your child will spend each afternoon exploring multiple stations of active and creative self-guided activities. These activities include dance, music, art, science experiments, sports, games, hands-on construction, and imaginative play. The teachers in this program are Reggio-inspired creative educators from Downtown Atelier. They are experts at curating beautiful, playful, and enticing materials provocations for children to explore while utilizing the power of open-ended play to invite moments of connection, joy, and discovery.

Important Dates
Friday, June 30, 2023 – Registration opens for Pre-K  Fall Program at 12:00pm
Monday, September 11, 2023 – First Day of Fall Program
Friday, January 26, 2024 – Last Day of Fall Program
Monday, January 29, 2024 – First Day of Spring Program
Friday, June 21, 2024 – Last Day of Spring Program

Daily Schedule
The following is a sample schedule of an afternoon’s activities. Times are estimated and subject to change based on the needs of the students.

At School Dismissal, P.S. 343 classroom teachers dismiss children to IF staff
2:45pm to 3:15pm – Active play in the Yard
3:15pm to 3:30pm – Snack (provided by DOE School Food)
3:30pm to 4:15pm – Enrichment Art Exploration Class
4:15pm to 4:45pm – Circle Meeting Time and Story Time
4:45pm to 5:15pm – Center-based play and Closing Circle
5:15pm to 5:30pm – Clean-up and Dismissal
